Here is another wee story of someone else escaping the grid

Moved to newbrunswick about 6 years ago after having a bid exepted on the internet a small bungerlow in the village of chipman. my main concurn was theft of power as i had read many storys of this,so I contacted the power company to have the supply disconected,anyway on my arrival to my house I discoverd this had not been done and had recived a power bill for $650 about £400 at the time .,after lots of arguments They finaly did this only later to find out a next door nabour had been using washers dryers and electic heaters in my house. my first option was to buy a small gene 5kv petrol, this was noisey and expensive to run and had compaints from guess who yes my nabour anyway I stated to find small low cost solar panels and added to the system to get a resonable suppy also batterys both deep cycle and orbital wich I love there so kick ass, the gene died and was repaced with a 5kv enclosed diesal that is now in the basement and is used to boost the batterys and runs my well pump that needs 3hp to run, also added back up systems candels is my fave solar garden light that I charge outside and then bring in at night, the panels work geat on the roof in summer and i the snow covered winter i fix them in the windows at the back of the house and they got lots of sun also reflected off the snow drifts. more to follow ok thanks pete
