Dear Andy,
You know how sometimes when people are kind, it touches your heart so much
that tears come? That's what's been happening a lot to me this week. My
journey supporting Philip as he deals with the cancer in his body has been,
and is painful, a lot of the time – but it has also brought us both huge
love in all forms, experiences and feelings. Amazing. Wonderful. We are
blessed. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Blessings on your week

PS Please hold Philip and I in light and love this week, as we receive the
results of his latest scan on Thursday – thank you.

Can Business and Love Go Together?

_Love is the theme this week, it seems_. When I looked at my emails this
morning, the [3]Angel of the Day was Love. Some very old friends of ours are
coming to visit from America for a few days. Another friend who has been
giving Philip EFT offered to put off her holiday and continue giving
sessions. My brother Simon has announced the launch of his new online
[4]Loving Life programme, free for the month of October. How much love there

_But can you run a business with love?_ Can those two words even go
together? _In fact, this is not a new idea_. Reading _Chocolate Wars_
recently by Deborah Cadbury, I was struck by the heartfelt compassion and
love at the base of the Cadbury brothers' chocolate company when they
started out. They were a Quaker company in Birmingham, England, alongside
many other Quaker businesses at the time (in fact, in the early nineteenth
century, around 4000 Quaker families in Britain ran seventy-four banks, and
over two hundred major companies according to spiritual principles). Making
money and taking care of their employees were of equal importance to the
Cadbury brothers.

The very product itself (which was originally drinking chocolate), was
introduced as a nourishing alternative to alcoholic drinks, which they saw
as contributing to poverty and social problems of the day. _They saw their
business as a part of a socially responsible world view with profits as only
a minor part of their values._

_"For the Quaker capitalists of the nineteenth century, the idea that
wealth-creation was for personal gain would have been offensive. Wealth
creation was for the benefit of the workers, the local community and society
at large, as well as the entrepreneurs themselves."_ — Chocolate Wars _by
Deborah Cadbury_.
The Cadbury brothers' values were demonstrated in many ways. One that
endures is.. ([5]read more)

Experience More Love in Your Life!
_Free for the month of October_
I trialled this [7]Loving Life program for my brother last year and can
highly recommend it if you want a simple, practical way to experience more
love in your life (which of course will affect your business).

The Angel for today is Presence. At least once every day sit down or a few
minutes, close your eyes, let go and feel the Angel of Presence within you
as love, joy and peace spread throughout your body and surround you. There
is only now. Make the most of it.

Andy the Daft Hermit lives 45 minutes outside Inverness with his wife Mel in an old bus parked in a layby. This current home of theirs is the longest they have ever stayed in one spot. “I’ve been travelling now 25 years,” said Andy Lowe. “Mel’s been travelling 15. One of the reasons we’ve come and stayed up here is because of Mel’s health. I wanted to bring her to the mountains for fresh air and clean water and just a slower pace of life.” Mel has had breast cancer twice, skin cancer once, and for three years believed she had bone cancer after being wrongly diagnosed. Andy’s belief in the restorative powers of the north made them pack up ‘The Black Bus’ that they live in and cross the border into Scotland. New Highland home for hermit couple Andy and Mel “I think we both believe in trying to get to a more simple way of life,” said Andy, “but it’s strange for us because we are sort of hermits, or we like to live separate, but it’s not being anti-social… it’s just the way we are that allows us to be creative.” Andy first began travelling when he left the army. Fed up with bureaucracy he packed a rucksack and left for France and has been travelling ever since. By investing any money the couple have earned into solar panels and wind generators they now live a self-sustaining existence, without electric bills, and collect rain water “straight from Heaven”. “It’s not easy,” said Mel. “There might be time when there might not be enough facilities around, but you always find a way, you know?” Rather than rejecting technology, Andy blogs about his travels online and collaborates with artists from around the world via his ‘Scratchy Heid Film Studio’, which he runs from a static trailer next to the couple’s bus. He explained his philosophy: “My belief is that if you can go through life and you drop dead and you’ve got a balance there that slightly outweighs the good than the bad, you’ve done alright. “Yesterday, with what Mel’s been through with the cancer and all that, I had a woman on one of my sites there that thanked me for the writing, for the positive things, and to me that’s worth everything. You can keep your millions, we’re not interested. That is what we do.” To check out Andy’s artwork and video projects check out his website. MORE FROM THE NORTH
