*After the judgement on Wednesday at 2pm*

Have your bags ready to come to Dale Farm – but wait for news before setting
out, there may be continued legal processes.

*Local outreach*

Join the photo campaign and spend time explaining the issues to others. We
have produced a myth busting information sheet to address common
misperceptions about the situation at Dale Farm, and the experiences of
Travellers. Check out the website for more information
also facebook
here <http://www.facebook.com/groups/124229427082/>.

Organise a local information sharing event and get some people from your
community along to Dale Farm to find out more for themselves. There are some
useful films on Traveller culture and history and Traveller evictions
available on the website <http://dalefarm.wordpress.com/video/> – and there
are some short films made in the last few weeks at Dale Farm on youtube
(e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK7MjF9_7S0 or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SztljicQ_yA ). We may also be able to get
hold of other material from independent film makers who have spent time at
Dale Farm, email: savedalefarm@gmail.com

Also write to newspaper editors and respond to erroneous comment postings,
explaining the things that people are deluded about, and pointing out any
editorial errors and generally voicing alternative myth-busting
prejudice-exposing perspectives. Likewise use the #dalefarm on twitter to
explain these issues to the trolls and more importantly to others who might
be misinformed and misguided by them.

*Freedom of Information Requests*

The Council, Tony Ball, MP John Baron and their supporters in central
government, in particular Eric Pickles, Theresa May, and David Cameron have
a lot of questions to answer.

A campaign is now in progress to expose multiple misconducts and corruption
related to planning regulation and directly relevant to the planned eviction
at Dale Farm.

We need your help to write complaints and freedom of information requests to
help expose the chain of misconduct and corruption. Please contact
savedalefarm@gmail.com for more information.

Here's some of the avenues being pursued:

- Basildon Council was informed that the notices they intended to
serve on the residents at Dale Farm were not legal and would, if acted upon,
result in illegal over enforcement. Council officers received this
information on multiple occasions and failed to act on it, now leaving the
council liable to court costs, following the injunction brought to court by
on 19th Sept, following which the council conceded that their notices were
unacceptable and that the Dale Farm site could not be legally cleared. Eric
Pickles agreed to give £1.2Million to Basildon Council to pursue an eviction
at Dale Farm despite being informed of the irregularities and errors in the

- Council staff knew that Basildon Council was involved in laying
down hardcore at Dale Farm for many years, despite its greenbelt status.
This allowed Basildon Council to dump unwanted rubble from road works for
free and again benefitted the council in that laying hardcore at Dale Farm
enabled the storage of council towed vehicles, a service which they
contracted out to Ray Bocking, the owner of Dale Farm. The Council was
complicit in this illegal use of the land but only served enforcement
notices against Ray Bocking after 14 years of paying him to collect and
store their vehicles, after the council had found a new contractor to look
after their vehicles. The Council has continually misrepresented the status
of Dale Farm in court hearings and tried repeatedly to undermine evidence of
the prior use of the land and their complicity in this process.

- MP John Baron converted his second home into office use (Bramble
Tye, Noak Bridge, Basildon, SS15 5GR) without planning permission and the
house itself may have been built on former greenbelt. Following the MP's
expenses scandal, John Baron made a £60,000 donation as a result of his
abuse of the Parliamentary expenses system, related to his misrepresentation
of the use of his second home in Basildon. The council's failure to enforce
planning regulations at Bramble Tye are in stark contrast to their
ill-conceived, costly, and destructive efforts to enforce planning
regulations at Dale Farm.

In each of these areas FOI requests are being made, and many have been made
already as a result of which we have a great deal of relevant documentation.
More is required to fully expose the hypocrisy and cronyism and more
pressure needs to be put on Basildon Council to address their
responsibilities and failures in each of these and other areas. We're
reliant on volunteer researchers, whistleblowers and people with inside
knowledge to expose these details and end this mismanagement and corruption
and its incredibly destructive and costly outcomes. So see what you can find
out, get investigating and tell us what you know.

Please forward any Freedom of Information requests that you make, and any
responses/evidence you receive to savedalefarm@gmail.com – keep an eye on
the website for updates on the various investigations…

Andy the Daft Hermit lives 45 minutes outside Inverness with his wife Mel in an old bus parked in a layby. This current home of theirs is the longest they have ever stayed in one spot. “I’ve been travelling now 25 years,” said Andy Lowe. “Mel’s been travelling 15. One of the reasons we’ve come and stayed up here is because of Mel’s health. I wanted to bring her to the mountains for fresh air and clean water and just a slower pace of life.” Mel has had breast cancer twice, skin cancer once, and for three years believed she had bone cancer after being wrongly diagnosed. Andy’s belief in the restorative powers of the north made them pack up ‘The Black Bus’ that they live in and cross the border into Scotland. New Highland home for hermit couple Andy and Mel “I think we both believe in trying to get to a more simple way of life,” said Andy, “but it’s strange for us because we are sort of hermits, or we like to live separate, but it’s not being anti-social… it’s just the way we are that allows us to be creative.” Andy first began travelling when he left the army. Fed up with bureaucracy he packed a rucksack and left for France and has been travelling ever since. By investing any money the couple have earned into solar panels and wind generators they now live a self-sustaining existence, without electric bills, and collect rain water “straight from Heaven”. “It’s not easy,” said Mel. “There might be time when there might not be enough facilities around, but you always find a way, you know?” Rather than rejecting technology, Andy blogs about his travels online and collaborates with artists from around the world via his ‘Scratchy Heid Film Studio’, which he runs from a static trailer next to the couple’s bus. He explained his philosophy: “My belief is that if you can go through life and you drop dead and you’ve got a balance there that slightly outweighs the good than the bad, you’ve done alright. “Yesterday, with what Mel’s been through with the cancer and all that, I had a woman on one of my sites there that thanked me for the writing, for the positive things, and to me that’s worth everything. You can keep your millions, we’re not interested. That is what we do.” To check out Andy’s artwork and video projects check out his website. MORE FROM THE NORTH
